This year Nailsea Concert Orchestra is presenting a New World Concert series, we started with our wonderful spring concert in March, now we are celebrating sumptuous summer.
The second in the orchestra’s series, ‘Rhapsody in Blue’ will take place on Saturday13th July 2019 at Nailsea Methodist Church at 7:30pm.
Our association with local composers continues with Richard Barnard’s Suite from ‘My Perfect World’. Albinoni’s Adagio in G minor, one of the most famous and recognizable pieces of classical music. The Capriol Suite is a set of dances composed in 1926 by Peter Warlock and is one of his most well-loved works. We then have a wonderful treat for musical lovers with Selections from Loewe’s My Fair Lady and Bernstein’s West Side Story, and Gershwin’s incredible Rhapsody in Blue which was composed and premiered 95 years ago this year and established Gershwin’s reputation as a serious composer.
Ticket holders will be treated to a Pre-concert talk at 18:45 for anyone interested in the history of the music; this will be given by our conductor Ben England.
There will also be an open rehearsal on the day between 2pm and 3.30pm, a perfect opportunity for parents to come along at no cost with their children and introduce them to the wonderful sounds of an orchestra in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
The Orchestra is proud to support local charities. This concert will be supporting The Strawberry Line which is being extended between Clevedon & Yatton.
Tickets for this concert can be bought in advance from Nailsea Music Shop £12/concessions £10/under 18s £2.50 or on the door on the night. Come and immerse yourselves in this wonderful evening of music.
